A glimpse through a window of a world I once lived…
This was how I felt when I arrived at the Saunton Sands Hotel in North Devon after 18 months of living alone when used to socialising and travelling.
Wearing a mask and having to sit at a dining table alone, it still felt like bliss to be served delicious meals, have a massage and walk along the long wide sandy beach for three days. Just be somewhere different and beautiful.
Set on the cliff top over looking the bay. Relaxing loungers. Was quite a hive of activity on the beach with youth water sport competitions and the filming of Aquaman ( I’d never heard of it either but my Grandchildren were impressed!)
Only downside for a solo traveller were the very small rooms at the back of the hotel. Small price to pay as only slept there! Plenty of areas around the hotel to relax in.
Pricey but they often have special offers
