This is something you just have to do if in New York. I think we all remember that dreadful day and in fact I had been in the Twin Towers only a week before which made it all the more frightening. The museum has been done very well. You can book in advance but we just turned up and only had to queue for a short while and, needless to say, the security was thorough. You don’t necessarily learn much you didn’t know before but it brings a personal touch with family stories and belongings. There is plenty of seating throughout.
They haven’t actually built on the sites of the towers, on those sites are two memorial pools and, around the edges, the names of all those who died are etched. Very moving. And, despite being in such a busy city, very peaceful. Lots of trees and seating close by.
