Preparing to travel
It’s that time of year, the main holiday abroad. As we both fast approach our more restful years we have no idea how many more overseas silver travel holidays we have left. So we choose well and savour every moment.
Following our wonderfully relaxing tour of Puglia last year we have decided on another road trip. We are going to let the coach take the strain. Not on back roads but this time on main roads between some of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
We have booked this time with Trafalgar a family owned company winning plaudits and an increasing number of fans. Telegraph readers voted them ‘best escorted tour operator’ earlier this year. And it is easy to see why.
All Trafalgar staff we have been in contact with have surpassed anything we have known before from the usual UK high street giants. Friendly, knowledgeable and willing to please. Special thanks to Chloe Davison for her expertise and efficiency.
So where are we going? We have chosen their popular Prague, Vienna and Budapest tour. Three nights in each city. Guided tours included but also plenty of leisure time too. Many optional tours available. Four-star hotels perfectly situated offering easy access for sightseeing and retail therapy. One of the pleasures of European travel is browsing and rummaging in quaint shops, shops not seen at home.
Cities we have wanted to visit for many years and the kind of which we can wander through and enjoy at our own pace. We love getting away from main thoroughfares and begin to experience culture, life and hidden gems.
Mouthwatering local cuisine to tempt the senses always goes down well. Strange names often difficult to read and speak and sometimes to swallow. But it’s fun having a go.
Musical heritage at every turn – Mozart and Strauss (young and old) to name but three. Bohemian Rhapsody!
Picture perfect places. We call at Brno, Bratislava and Esztergom en route too. Castle, cathedrals, churches, palaces, parks, squares. And architecture to please all budding architects. Gothic, Renaissance, Rococo, Neo -Gothic and modern and everything else in between. You could say we are between “baroque and a hard place “.
The holiday starts with VIP service – a chauffeur picking us up from home. A great way to travel and a wonderful way to start the holiday.
See you in Prague.
Dekuji vam (thank you).
