Over 140,000 votes – a new record – were cast in this year’s Silver Travel Awards as you, the general public, embraced the opportunity to recognise the travel companies, cruise lines and destinations that have delivered the very best service and most outstanding experiences for the over 50s traveller in the last 12 months.

And the Winners are …
The winners for the 2019 Silver Travel Awards were announced at a glittering reception held at BAFTA in London’s Piccadilly on Wednesday 26 June, hosted by TV legend Dame Esther Rantzen, with a twist of movie glamour being provided by Captain Jack Sparrow, Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe (at least, they looked just like them!).
The evening began with the presentation of two Silver-i Awards for the best idea, innovation or initiative over the last year in Product Development and in Marketing, which were judged by a panel of leading travel industry experts.
Trophies for a total of 21 main award categories, including the new Best Beach Holiday Operator and Best Travel Agency, which were voted for by the general public, were then presented to great acclaim.
And to round off the evening, a special Silver Service Award was presented to someone whose name became synonymous with travel as the presenter of ITV’s Wish You Were Here and the BBC’s Holiday programme – Silver Travel Advisor’s very own patron, the inimitable John Carter.
Now in their fifth year, the Silver Travel Awards were supported by gold sponsors Shearings and Avis, silver sponsors Saga Holidays and Emerald Waterways, consumer media sponsors The Mail on Sunday, Daily Mail and Mail Online, and with the soundtrack to the evening provided by Classic FM.
