Saga Holidays experiences huge interest in special interest holidays

Award-winning Saga Holidays has seen a two-thirds year-on-year increase in bookings for special interest – or ‘SPIN’ – holidays, from bird watching on the Costa Blanca to astronomy in Tenerife. The company is predicting that 2025 will be a bumper year for travellers who choose to combine their holiday with some ‘later life learning’ by trying something new, or indulging an existing hobby or pastime.

Saga Holidays’ top-selling SPIN experiences are:

Walking Madeira’s Levadas – 7 nights all inclusive from £1,225 per person

Starting out as mini canals, built to transport water down the rocky mountainsides, the Levadas are now popular walking routes that hug the slopes and offer spectacular views of valleys, forests, and waterfalls. Rated as grade three, the paths are ideal for those who enjoy a variation in walking levels from easy to moderate, and guests should be prepared to walk between 5-9 miles each day, with moderate ascents and descents. Price includes 5 guided walks included plus flights, transfers, all inclusive accommodation and local expert guide. Based on 15 October 2025 departure.

Archaeology in Greece – 7 nights half board plus from £1,495 per person

With the comfortable and welcoming Hotel Alkyon in Vrachati on the Peloponnese Peninsula as the base, this seven-night hosted visit will immerse guests in the world of ancient Greece with tours of Athens and the Acropolis, Olympia and the ruins of Delphi, Epidaurus, and Mycenae – all guided by an expert host. In-between tours, guests can relax in the hotel’s curved outdoor pool and lush gardens or relax on the nearby beach and enjoy spectacular views across the bay. Price includes local Saga host and two specialist lectures, accommodation on a half board basis, travel insurance, return transfers, and return international flights from London Gatwick. Based on 4 March 2025 departure.

Saga is excited to announce a host of new SPIN holidays for 2025, catering to a variety of interests. These include Walking in Gran Canaria, Archaeology in Crete, Birdlife of Malaga, Madeira’s Enticing Gardens, and Bridge in Tenerife. Learn more about Saga’s SPIN holidays here.
