This year we swapped sun beds for a city break in Norway. Staying in Oslo, we enjoyed five nights of culture and style. Our hotel was modern, hip and central, right by the Munch museum. After an amazing buffet breakfast, the like of which I’ve never experienced before, we were off exploring. Norway is an expensive destination, but the breakfast helped, it kept us going until dinner. You can keep costs down by avoiding alcohol. Summer is the perfect time to visit Oslo, it doesn’t get dark till around 10pm and every night crowds gather on the roof of the Opera house, to watch the sunset. The city was buzzing with activity, we watched open air Salsa dancing and enjoyed a sauna session, with a dip in the Fijord to cool down. The sights are amazing, we especially enjoyed City Hall, with its beautiful murals and architecture. We also visited The Viking Museum and the Munch Museum. Norway felt like a very cool, calm and safe place to visit. We both really enjoyed our stay here and it’s given us a taste for adventures in other Scandinavian countries.
