On a bitterly cold, grey day, what better thing to do than visit the large glasshouse at the RHS Gardens at Wisley, Surrey to walk amongst the lush tropical vegetation and experience close-up, beautiful, exotic butterflies flitting around you with names such as Blue Morpho, Tiger Longwing, Malay Lacewing and Owl, to name but a few. For only 50p you can purchase a butterfly spotter guide to adde to the excitement. For a while, you can imagine yourself being anywhere – from steamy rainforest to tropical jungle. It is a wonderful way to escape the winter weather and lift the spirits. The butterflies will be in the glasshouse until the 24th February. Entry is free for RHS members. Adults £10.50.
