We had 3 nights booked at the Falcon Legacy Hotel in early September. It was beautiful weather when we arrived so we quickly clambered aboard a long boat and cruised down the river Avon. It was wonderful with all the swans coming close by and an interesting commentary and music as well. Some very historic Shakespeare related scenes were viewed too. Absolutely beautiful. Later we visited two of the historic houses. Though expensive they were thoughtfully set out with guides to give information. It seemed quite a sophisticated life for the well to do I thought. Stratford upon Avon itself was a pleasant town and I always remember going into Huffkins for a Shakespeare bake for lunch. My husband enjoyed an authentic pot of gold fashioned tea. ?Russian caravan. The Legacy Falcon hotel was very comfortable and had a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff at breakfast. Which was partly buffet style. The hotel did special themed evening meals but we chose to eat out. The Giggling Squid was a wonderful Thai restaurant. The other memorable meal was the fish and chip restaurant overlooking the river Avon parkland. Cream teas were available down the street from our hotel, it was a really lovely holiday atmosphere. A good view can be enjoyed from the top of the Theatre By The Lake restaurant. I just wish we had been healthier and able to enjoy it better. I would love to go back there one day when we are in full health. A visit to Anne Hathaways Cottage will be on the cards if we are lucky enough to return. Perhaps in the spring when the gardens are blossoming, if we are lucky.
