We stayed for 2 nights at Woolley Grange in September with our granddaughter (age 14) because we were going to the Bath Children’s Literary Festival. The hotel is lovely – comfortable, spacious and very friendly to adults and children alike. Everyone made us most welcome and our suite was luxurious and delightful. The views across the countryside were stunning. The furnishings and decor are in keeping with a house dating back to the 17th century but brought up to date with modern comforts. The bathroom was very modern and there is free wifi which, of course, delighted the youngsters as well as ourselves!
The Spa and swimming pool are fantastic and we had a lovely time swimming and using the saunas. The grounds are extensive and the walled garden is full of fruit and vegetables which are used in the kitchen for the restaurant. Many activities are laid on for children who are exceptionally well catered for. While we were there the children were able to pick apples and press them and then drink the juice they had produced. The food is exquisite and our breakfasts were full of varied choices and you can have as much as you want from the buffet as well as hot orders too. They even lay on an early supper for younger children so that they can be put to bed before the adults can enjoy their fine dining later on.
The Hotel is a short walk from the centre of Bradford on Avon with its many activities including the river and Kennet and Avon Canal. We took the train into Bath which was very convenient and saved the parking problems in the city.
All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this lovely hotel and particularly for families with children. You know that you are going to be well cared for when you go there and also experience a taste of luxury. Grandparents can rest assured that their grandchildren will not only be well looked after but will have a wonderful time even if they never even leave the grounds!
