Got a good price (in comparison) through booking.com for my room. The hotel is, literally, right off the ‘Red Jet’ fast ferry (“see other review”:http://www.silvertraveladvisor.com/review/travel-service/155695-review-red-jet-hi-speed-ferry) in this historic island town. Bedroom furnishings and bed were good; full-length mirror; hairdryer; over-bath shower; toilet a bit cramped but overall space for an old-town building was adequate. My particular room (number 2) was over the bar and so, as I type this, the voices coming through the floor are quite loud – and the room, despite not having the heating on, is hot. The window opens onto a flat roof so I wouldn’t go to sleep with the window open (nor leave anything worthwhile in the room when unoccupied). Other rooms will be better and have a better outlook, I’m sure, but I guess this is one of the ‘booking.com specials’ (i.e. the otherwise last room to be allocated?) that we get for not booking direct and/or paying the full price?
Breakfast was included and offered a standard choice of hot and cold food. Restaurant menu also offered standard British food in this ‘Old English Inn’ group hotel. If the cutlery is anything to go by they could either use a new dishwasher, or put better cleaning material in the one they have!
