We decided that after a hectic Christmas, we'd try and escape the hustle and bussel, and find a quiet retreat to relax in! After searching many sites on the Internet I found the ideal cottage! It was in the beautiful unspoilt village of Blockley in the Cotswolds. We were given detailed directions to the cottage, and I must say we were stunned at its location. Situated next to a converted old silk mill, the row of cottages looked beautiful in their setting. Ours was a grade two listed building which oozed character. It had a gorgeous front garden with a table and chairs, and lots of small shrubs. A holly garland was hanging on the door. We entered the cottage, and knew we'd fall in love with it! A tiny kitchen diner, with a wood burning stove in a pretty fireplace. The kitchen was very well equipped with all mod cons, and a dining table and chairs to enjoy home cooked meals whilst sitting by the fire. What more could we wish for? Upstairs was the sitting room with comfortable chairs, lots of books about The Cotswolds, helping you with decisions such as good walks, pubs, etc. The bedroom was up another flight of stairs. It was so quaint with beams and lovely cottage windows. The ensuite bathroom had been newly refitted, and was very luxurious. A huge bath and shower, with beautiful stone wall tiles. Every little detail was thought of. Lovely porcelain mugs, wool carpets, WiFi, etc. we had such a marvellous holiday, and felt so relaxed and refreshed. We will certainly be returning!
