The Royal Lodge at Symonds Yat is a former 16th century hunting lodge, with spectacular views down the River Wye and great walks from the door step along the Wye Valley Way.
The restaurant was very good, with a fine selection to chose from, plus a Cafe bar if preferred, and I am sure in summer you would eat outside on the terraces by the river and in the gardens.
It was an excellent breakfast too, and I enjoyed salmon and scrambled egg alongside fruit and cereals etc.
We had a large ensuite room, with good views over the garden and River Wye. There are some excellent discounts off season.
Lots of brochures with ideas, plus some walking routes and we walked both days along the river in different directions.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and you can park for free outside with a hotel pass.
