I have visited Stratford upon Avon several times, and had difficulty finding a guest house that was really satisfactory. This one exceeded expectations – so much so that this was my second stay there. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed, breakfast was excellent, and there is a pleasant garden to relax in when exploration palls. It is situated a few minutes walk across the river from the town centre, and the proprietress helpfully showed me a shortcut to avoid getting there along the main road.
She is very interested in the RSC productions and likes to go to each one; this makes for interesting discussions about the plays, and the way they are presented.
An excellent base not only to make the most of events at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, but also to explore our Shakespeare heritage and visit the many other attractions of the area – the butterfly farm, the Shire Horse Centre, walks by the River Avon and stately homes such as Charlecote Park come to mind. Something for everyone.
