Reasons for trip

You may remember the 1989 movie starring Pauline Collins and Tom Conti. Well, the play is a little different as it is performed in two acts: Shirley’s kitchen in Liverpool and an island in Greece. It also has only one performer: Shirley. From start to finish it is laugh out loud funny. Shirley realizes that she has lost her way in life after getting married and needs to escape to Greece to bring zest back into her life. She goes from talking to her kitchen wall to talking to a rock on the beach.

This particular production is over – I saw it at the “Victoria Playhouse”:http://thevpp.ca/ in Petrolia, Ontario. We had seen the star, Nora McLellan, in “The Birds and the Bees” last season so we knew she would give a good performance. She did not disappoint. Be warned, the language is salty and the topics graphic, but if you get the chance to see this one woman play somewhere, do so.
