Gastronomy

The Martinborough Hotel is right in the central square of Martinborough, in wine country in the south west of New Zealand's North Island – the region is famous for it's top class Pinot Noir. So that we could do some tasting without anyone having to drive, we booked a room in The Martinborough Hotel, a boutique, heritage hotel, with a reputation of being the best hotel in the area.

We booked a room in the main hotel, a 'Verandah Room' and were delighted to find a large and airy corner room with a wrap around verandah. The large four poster bed was very comfortable and quality coffee, tea and toiletries were provided. The spacious bathroom had a deep claw foot bath to relax and revive in after a few glasses of the local wines.

The hotel has a small lounge and library and a lovely fire was burning on this very wet winter night. We had the lounge to ourselves, we were the only guests in the hotel that night!
