What a wonderful house. It's an 18th century Palladian mansion surrounded by beautiful grounds. The trees there are huge and magnificent. Our mistake was to actually arrange activities during our stay. The wise guests just hung around the house to soak up the atmosphere.

Our bed was an original Chippendale four-poster and very comfortable too. We visited Longleat, during our stay, and noticed some of the furniture was pretty much identical to that in our room. The lounges and the library are so perfect that you don't want to leave.

One big regret was that we didn't get to eat dinner, because we were meeting family in the evenings at their place. How we wish we had invited them over. The staff were very friendly and attentive and breakfast was a lovely relaxing affair with some nice local food.

A step back in time.
