Reasons for trip

I was the lucky winner of Silver Travel Advisor’s recent competition for tickets to the 60s Musical ‘Rip it Up’ at the Garrick Theatre in London. We were expecting to enjoy a standard Juke Box musical but this show was something completely different.

The four young stars – from boy bands which I must confess to never having heard of and who were also all Strictly Come Dancing winners – were a revelation. They are incredible dancers and singers, as indeed are the whole supporting cast, who danced up a storm for more than two hours. Where do they get their energy? And a special mention to the band and the two singers who were also excellent.

The combination of these amazing young performers and the back catalogue of material from the 60s – the best-ever musical decade – is just amazing. The appreciative audience was an eclectic mix of young and old who enthusiastically joined in and helped to contribute to the energy and feel-good atmosphere. This show can be enjoyed by anyone between 18 and 80.

Our tickets were for top-price front stalls seats, putting us right in the middle of the action. Many thanks to STA for arranging such a treat and we will definitely recommend to friends and will try to go again ourselves before the show’s (too short) run at the Garrick ends in June.
