Reasons for trip

The surrounding areas of Gosport offer a wealth of the most beautiful, generously contributing Christmas lights. The village of Titchfield particularly delights every year with most of the old houses displaying lit trees mounted on the outer walls of the properties giving the appearance of traditional welcomes to everyone.

In Portsmouth harbour yachts light up their rigging and further across the harbour the Spinnaker Tower shines out in her finest, unique way, Christmas Tree lighting for miles, while further across the first iron-hulled, armoured ocean going warship “HMS Warrior”, the pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet, has her rigging lit up in the shape of a Christmas Tree. We understand it takes her electricians six days to accomplish this. Next to the Spinnaker Tower another tall building, taking the name of the “Lipstick” is lit in a halo of blue.

So striking are these that it really is worth an effort to make a tour of all these wonderfully planned effects if you can – you will so enjoy it – and while we now take them for granted, we never tire of seeing them.
