Reasons for trip

In June each year Alicante celebrates the Bonfires of San Juan where huge models of fantastic creatures as well as politicians and celebrities are burned.

The museum has a collection of “pardoned ninots” (the effigies that managed to escape the flames), mock bonfires, typical costumes, etc. There is also an audiovisual hall showing clips of this festival from years ago.

My grandchildren (aged 16, 11 and 9) and I discovered this museum by accident when we went to ask directions to the Museo de Belenes and are so glad we did. Beautiful, intriguing and an exhibition to make you smile. And it’s free!
