Reasons for trip

They have extended their tea & cake & afternoon cinema to lunch & cinema @ £8 each, going up to Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life! We were not sure what to expect for the light lunch but were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It is a training restaurant, part of the college complex, so the waiting staff are learning how to greet and serve us – doing very well indeed.

Food was steak and ale pie, vegetables and potatoes followed by a choice of pudding with custard, so it was certainly more than we expected. We went to see the film Mamma Mia! – OK so we must be the only ones who haven’t seen it yet. It is a great film and we really wanted to dance along with the brilliant Abba songs, but made do with singing along instead. Not sure if the rest of the audience were watching the same movie or were all deaf (average age well over 55), but there appeared to be no humming, tapping feet or even bobbing heads throughout. We are now keen to see a live performance – just booked to see it at The Millenium Centre, Cardiff next week.

This is a great offer that has become very popular as a pleasant day out, and one which other catering colleges with cinema facilities nearby should consider. Price is good to include the meal, and facilities are fine for wheelchair users.
