Reasons for trip

An excellent 5 star hotel not far from Dubai Marina – expensive like almost everything in Dubai apart from public transport (which is very good as well as inexpensive). It features three pools, extensive gardens and is on the beach. It has four restaurants in addition to the main self-service dining option. Rooms are large and well furnished including large beds. Service was generally really good and provided with a smile at all times. We visited in Summer (June) when it was very hot (44 degrees Celsius). A better, but even more expensive, time would be January or February.

Dubai’s shopping is unsurpassed with the world’s largest mall for starters, but also good value jewellery and fake designer branded goods in the markets.
