Reasons for trip

This lovely village in Wiltshire takes you back in time. Cottages and houses are just as in the olden times, and one feels charmed as you walk around. Many period dramas have been shot in the village and abbey, including Pride and Predjudice, Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, and more. The Abbey itself is fascinating too. It was founded in the 13th century, by Augustinian nuns, but later bought by Sir William Sharrington, and few changes were made to the cloisters and monastic buildings themselves. It is well worth a visit to see this lovely house and village.
