We had decided upon the Hilton close to Terminal 5 at Heathrow as it seemed to be the closest to that terminal. We had previously stayed at the Sofitel actually at T5 but this has become very expensive. It was easy to find (take the Heathrow T5 junction from the M25 but go the other way and it is about 5 mins).

Check in was swift, friendly and efficient. We asked about the hopper buses to T5 and were told they went every half hour but that as a taxi was £10 and the hopper was £4.50 each we might prefer that option – we did and they booked the taxi for us, saying it took about 10-15 mins to T5 from the hotel. Our room was fine – larger than anticipated and very quiet with tea, coffee etc supplied.

We went down to have a drink in the bar before the meal -– a reasonable range of beers and a very pleasant barman. We then decided to have a meal – there is a general European style restaurant and an Indian one. We opted for the European as the menu had a good variety and the prices were similar to those we pay in a local restaurant, wine was from £15 upwards. Our orders were taken efficiently and our wine brought. Unfortunately we then had to wait 50 mins for our main courses. When they arrived they were very good but we were doubtful about ordering a dessert because of the wait. A senior member of staff apologised for our long wait and promised dessert would come swiftly so we ordered, it arrived promptly and was excellent.

After a good night’s sleep our bags were collected from our room, check out was swift and we were ready for our taxi. This did not arrive, the hotel staff were very helpful and chased the company and the taxi appeared 15 mins late. This did not matter to us as we always leave plenty of time before check in at the airport.

Overall we were very pleased with our stay and will book there again for our next flight from T5. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and unfailingly helpful.
