Reasons for trip

Personal / family celebration

To celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday we had a meal at Henri’s (read my review of the restaurant) then we stayed overnight as 4 couples. It was £90 per double room, but no breakfast available as there are only 5 bedrooms in total. It is beautifully decorated and furnished in a French style, including light fittings and images of can-can dancers around the walls and doors – brings back memories of my youth! We liked the wallpaper made up of real French newspapers pasted to one wall in each bedroom. Big solid French country-style beds, but watch your shins as you go past the corners. There were new bathroom fittings in each en-suite with a roomy shower and cubicle, although the loo seemed to be very low down as if it should be wall mounted rather than on the floor? Floors are very uneven as it is an old building, and the stairs to the accommodation are not suited to anyone who has difficulty walking or climbing steps. But, overall it was a very enjoyable stay, clean and well-appointed accommodation with helpful, friendly staff. It is definitely worth booking as an evening meal and overnight accommodation package, and as it is in the centre of town, there are lots of places nearby to get breakfast.
