Reasons for trip

I was very lucky to have tickets to the Henley Regatta on Wednesday evening to see the Beach Boys Concert. It was a wonderful warm evening and sitting on the banks of the Thames sipping champagne was exquisite. Everyone was dressed in their best, sticking to the strict dress code and flags fluttered on the boats gliding up and down the riverbank. Small rowing boats and large yachts good naturedly shared the water and diners sat in striped blazers and cocktails dresses on the helms. It was fun with actors dressed as horses and trolley dollies entertaining the crowds. I took my daughter with me and we picniced near the art gallery tent with sculpures providing a further dramatic background. The concert began at 9 pm and lots of boats gathered near the floating stage. People bopped to the sounds of `Surfing USA` and celebs sat enjoying the show. Fireworks lit up the skyline at the end of the concert and then a disco began until the early hours. The carpark at the front of the festival cost £20 with lots of people having their picnic there before the gates opened at 6pm. A carpark a little further up the lane was free and we parked there taking our picnic inside the grounds. The tickets which included good seats were £120.00 each. Cheaper tickets are available for standing in front of the stage, and more expensive tickets if you wanted full hospitality. It got very cold late in the evening so do take a coat or a warm rap. It is an experience not to be missed on a lovely summer evening.
