Reasons for trip

Did the 2 for 1 deal with our train ticket, so good value. Started off with the Maze & that was a great disappointment. Easily made it to the centre & back out again, much smaller & simpler than I expected. Next we went to the gardens & they were amazing. They must have a few thousand gardeners to make them so manicured & attractive. The Shire Horses pulling the carriage around the gardens added to the vintage feel. The palace itself is very interesting, well kept & just packed with interesting aspects of the history of the palace. The audio guide is a bit boring, far too much detail & would be better keeping to the simple history, with access to more detail if you want it. Some of the rooms, however, were astonishing & needed very little explanation really. My favourite was the wall mounted weapon displays. Although there was a couple of staff/actors in themed costumes, we didn't see the mini plays others have talked about. Very good, well worth a visit but with some tweaks this could be outstanding.
