Reasons for trip

For our 34th wedding anniversary my huband and I visited Chatsworth house for the first time. The lower floors of the house were decorated to depict the story of The Lion ,The Witch and the Wardrobe, and was really beautiful, but looking beyond the Christmas theme we were amazed at the richness and splendour of the house with the beautifully painted ceilings etc. Unlike other great houses we have visited, Chatsworth had no restrictions on photography and we were able to touch the lovely marble sculpture and woodwork. I was grateful also to find frequent places to sit and just rest and look around. Out side the house in the surrounding courtyard and old stables were shops and places to eat and drink. Unfortunately, as my knees are very troublesome, we were not able to look around the extensive gardens this time but we have made up our minds to visit again in the summer months. A great day out.
