We went on this cruise excursion because the write up stated that we would have 2 hours of cave tubing & it was something we'd never done before. As it turned out the journey from the pier to Jaguar Paw – Caves Branch Outpost meant we were out for about 6 hours but actually spent only 45 mins in the caves/river. Whilst our guide was very pleasant & ensured we had all the safety equipment of life jacket, hard hat, head light, to go with our rubber ring. The cave section we went to wasn't really that spectacular, none of the dramatic sparkling stalactites I've seen on National Geographic style programs. Having said that the guide pointed out some interesting things & seemed very knowledgable. It was a fun experience & another thing we've done but overall it wasn't really worth the journey, some of it over some pretty rough roads. Our guide did say that there was a much better trip you could do which had you in the caves for 4 hours but the timing of cruise ship excursions didn't allow this to be an option. Lunch was included in our trip & that was pretty poor, my BBQ chicken was pink inside, so I left it (having been on a cruise ship for a few days with outstanding food I didn't need it anyway). You need to be reasonably fit to do this as you need to be able to carry your tube for quite a distance over some quite hilly terrain & across the river (there's a hand rope to help you).
