The Battlefield Inn is, without question, the worst hotel our group have ever stayed at. Foolishly, we didn't check the reviews. We have now. The 'terrible' reviews (and there are a lot of them) are on the money. The state of the decor is on the downside of disgusting. There are mouse droppings everywhere. The pool is full of dark green slime. Wherever you look you see decay and filth. Many of the fittings are broken (for example, our toilet seat). I think our party of 7 were the only guests. A sign on the door to the hotel advises arriving guests "NO GUNS/KNIVES ALLOWED". The best comment is for the two staff members we met who were polite and obviously embarrassed about the appalling state of the hotel (if it can be called that).
