On Indian lands and jointly run by National Park services you are driven out to the canyon in a jeep. For three months of the year, June, July and August at midday the sun shines through and creates a magical effect a bit like a huge spotlight which is fantastic. A guide walks you through the narrow canyon and with the light in different parts it is spectacular. You can also take a boat trip through another part of the canyon but don't see the above effect. Although the sunset trip on Glen Canyon dam lights up all the rocks and is unmissable in its own way. Be aware though the 11am trip is very popular and booking in advance is recommended.
