Reasons for trip

I have always wanted to visit Eastbourne as I had seen lovely pictures of the pier and as an amateur photographer wanted to have a look. The waterfront is fantastic. All along the marine parade are lovely Victorian and Edwardian hotels and buildings. You can come straight out the hotel door and walk across the road to the beach. The waterfront is well maintained by the local council. There are beautiful gardens and cafes where you can sit and look at the waves. We also went on the double decker tour bus which was good value and there was an interesting and well presented commentary about the various places it stopped at. The South Downs are just outside Eastbourne and it was lovely standing up there on the cliffs looking across the whole of Eastbourne. The pier is well looked after and is painted in blue and white. Amongst other shops and attractions there is a jazz club at the end and a pretty café. Eastbourne is great for a long weekend.
