Reasons for trip

For some reason not many people know about this dreamy picturesque place on the border between France and Belgium called Bray-Dunes. Is it because the French are trying to keep it to themselves? Endless empty beaches with beautiful golden sand and huge sandy dunes covered in grass. What can be more romantic than a picnic on a nice sunny day among the dunes surrounded by peace and quiet and the most amazing view? It doesn’t even have to be in the summer, any sunny day in the spring or autumn will do nicely. A day out in Bray- Dunes will easily turn into an impromptu holiday. And it’s only an hour’s drive from Calais!

My husband and I went shopping to France and on the way back stopped at Bray-Dunes. There is a choice of accommodation: holiday apartments, a camp and a hotel. We stayed at the most convenient Holiday Suites Bray Dunes Etoile de mer . No check-in here. Upon making our booking for 1 night we were sent an email with a code to enter the building and the code to open a safe with the key. The whole process of getting into the apartment took less than 2 minutes. And the view from the balcony was hard to beat. Right on the beach, facing the sunset, it was an ideal place for a pre-dinner drink. And being at the end of the road meant peaceful uninterrupted sleep. We discovered several excellent restaurants on the promenade serving traditional French cuisine, all with sea view. But if you are staying for longer and get tired of French food you can always walk along the beach into Belgium and sample their cuisine!

Peaceful and quiet, ideal for beach and dunes lovers , dog walkers and picnickers. This is my discovery of Bray-Dunes.
