This is the name of a musical currently playing at the Victoria Playhouse in Petrolia, Ontario. The venue is celebrating its 50th anniversary and if the title brings The Carpenters to mind, it’s for good reason. The musical takes place in a woman’s teenage bedroom as she reminisces about her favourite songs and singers from 1973 with the help of her imaginary friends – four singers and a back-up band. From the Beatles to Donny Osmond and all points between, including a smattering of country, they take us back in time 50 years. A couple of times I was laughing so hard at her antics I was in tears, and yes, the audience is encouraged to sing along.
There is ample parking across the street from the theatre and on the streets surrounding the theatre, all free. There is a ramp to enter the building and an elevator for those requiring accessibility.
