Just returned from a week in Pollensa, Mallorca. This is the calm, stately inland town about three miles from the livelier Puerto Pollensa. It is perfect for the Silver Traveller because it is very compact but still has a wealth of shops and some excellent restaurants (Obris for Italian, Bar Nou for paella and Bar Pont Roma for tapas). For the more active there is the demanding 100-odd steps up to the little chapel which overlooks the town; for those of a more contemplative frame of mind there is the magnificent church on the main square. A big lump of a building from outside but it is stunning inside.
