Glamping at Eurocamp Park Playa Bara Campsite, Costa Dorada, Spain

Well, my husband Trevor is a camper, on the other hand I am a Glamper! So, we have found the ideal solution – Eurocamp.

The image I had of Eurocamp is lots of families and activities. This is still the case in the summer months but Eurocamp is very appealing to the Silver Traveller at the beginning and end of each holiday season when it is quieter and less crowded.

Whether you are a couple or a group of friends or a group of like-minded people that like to go walking, cycling, running, playing bridge or just resting, the choice is yours.

Eurocamp Park Playa Bara CampsiteThe Eurocamp ‘Travel Your Way’ is an easy, stress-free way to get to your chosen park. Flights, car hire, self-drive and ferry can be arranged for you or you can choose to get to the parcs independently. You can self-drive and take your time, the flexibility is up to you.

We flew to Reus Airport then hired a car and drove for approximately 30 minutes to get to our Eurocamp Park Playa Bara Campsite based at Roda de Bara in Costa Dorada. This is a beautifully presented park with an ancient Roman theme and long tree lined promenades that branch off to the sites where the mobile homes and tents are situated.

Eurocamp accommodation is certainly not camping as we know it. The mobile homes are of the highest ‘spec’. We were in the Aspect, which is a spacious mobile home with three bedrooms, one double, one with two single beds and one with bunk beds. A shower room with bath towels and toilet rolls is provided – no soap or shower gel, so bring that along with you.

The mobile homes have all the cooking facilities you may need, cooker, grill and microwave. There is a barbeque for alfresco dining. There is a large seating area outside with sunbeds and seats for lounging and a table and four chairs for eating outside. Each mobile home or tent does have some ‘extras’ to pay for. Beach towels, a welcome pack with tea coffee and condiments is provided so check this when booking your trip.

There are, of course, the Safari Tents that do look like fun to stay in and they have real beds not camp beds to give you a good night’s sleep under canvas. The tents consist of a double bed, one single and a bunk bed, cooking facilities, table and chairs, a fridge, although, sadly no toilet or shower but they are near to the shower block on most sites. A barbeque and a fan are provided for the hot days and nights – now that is Glamping!!

The Safari tentDogs are allowed on the site but must be on a leash at all time. Rubbish bins are provided but you have to empty them yourself at the marked-out bin sites.

If you are disabled, Eurocamp does have wheelchair adapted mobile homes. These are the Azure homes which offer independent, stress-free holidays. You can opt for a one-stay park or a multi-centre holiday just let Eurocamp staff help you along the way with your booking.

Glyn’s tip: There are no televisions in the mobile homes, only a monitor for you to bring your own DVDs. There is WiFi on the site, just check this with reception or your Eurocamp rep. Please be aware that mosquitoes are out and about – take plenty of protection.

The main swimming pool at Park Playa BaraThe large swimming pools are set in an amphitheatre area based on Roman Baths with statues that stand proud overlooking the pool. It is on two levels with lots of sunbeds and a grassed area for sitting on. On the top level is a jacuzzi and lots of sunbeds.

A very well-equipped children’s playing area is very popular and well maintained. A swim up bar – very welcome on hot days – and a pool side bar selling drinks and food are also good meeting places. A lifeguard is on duty, but it is the parents’ responsibility to take care of the children.

A short walk brings you to a lovely beach where you take your own chairs and sunshades. It is clean and well looked after with a restaurant and an excellent promenade to ride bikes or just stroll at your leisure – cycles can be hired at the Reception or the Eurocamp office.

The amphitheatre at TarragonaThe camp site does have a restaurant and coffee shop plus a very good supermarket and laundrette, plus the Park Playa Bara also has a Roman-themed spa for you to enjoy a treatment or two after a leisurely swim in the relaxing spa pool.

For entertainment the park also has an amphitheatre for shows each evening in the summer but less out of season. There are also tennis courts, a football pitch and table tennis areas plus a television bar that is very popular when the football matches are being played.

Park Playa Bara has a lot to offer to SilverTraveller and if you want a ‘chill-out’ time with self-catering facilities for your comfort and leisure, send for the Eurocamp Brochure or email enquiries@eurocamp.co.uk and look at the beautiful sites that are on offer all over Europe.

Glynis having wine on the Terrace of the mobile homeEurocamp is good value for money at only £99 deposit per party to secure your holiday or pay in instalments or in one lump sum 12 weeks before departure.  Eurocamp have 45 years of experience and are market leaders in European holidays.

Eurocamp brings back the adventure spirit that camping gives you, out in the open air, under the stars and back to nature – glamping is a freedom holiday for you to stop the world and relax and have some ME time.
