Sally’s Cottages adds spacious townhouse in Cockermouth – birthplace of William Wordsworth

Six Castlegate is a Grade II-listed early Georgian gentleman’s residence, conveniently situated in the heart of the oldest part of Cockermouth, with spacious, versatile and characterful accommodation. Sleeping up to 14 people this impressive, three-story townhouse has 7 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and also welcomes up to 2 dogs.

Cockermouth, the birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth, offers a great location to explore the western fells and lakes of the Lake District. Grasmoor, Fleetwith Pike, Haystacks, Buttermere, Crummock Water, Loweswater and Whinlatter Forest are all within 12 miles. The path at Bassenthwaite Lake runs the length of the west shore, and there is an open-air theatre at Mirehouse which is well worth a visit.

There is a great selection of independent shops, bars, restaurants and a brewery. For something a little different, why not enjoy some outdoor adventures at Go Ape or explore the forest trails at Whinlatter (8 miles)? The Keswick Mountain Festival, which is usually held in May or June, offers three days of world-class sports, outdoor activities, talks and films with live music (14 miles).
