Reasons for trip

We’d been Christmas shopping in York and it started to rain so we dived for cover in the nearest café which turned out to be “York Cocoa House”:https://www.yorkcocoahouse.co.uk/, a small independent place situated in Blake Street.

Despite the enticing smell of chocolate. we settled on two americanos with hot milk.
Whilst the coffee cooled, I went to look at the small area to the side where chocolate making lessons are held and watched the filling for gin truffles being piped into moulds.

There was also an enticing array of chocolate for sale which is made at the York Cocoa Works and we bought bars of chocolate with 72% and 85% cocoa for Xmas gifts. The wrapping was plain brown paper and having been to the Castle Museum the following day, found that it was a style that had been used years before.

As it was still wet when we left, we walked back to the hotel and ate the chocolate we’d bought as gifts!

Tours of “York Cocoa House”:https://www.yorkcocoaworks.com/welcome/ are available.
