We booked the Yew Tree to break up a long journey and stayed for one night only. The accommodation is perfectly OK but I found the management to be brusque and frankly unwelcoming.
Accommodation is in a chalet in the grounds of the pub. Our room was clean, nicely decorated and had a good shower. Soap provided and no single use plastic toiletries so tick for that. The TV was a complex affair requiring two remotes and when we asked for assistance to turn it on we were given the impression that we were a pair of idiots (we’re not!). Towels clean white and fluffy. Wifi good. There was some road noise but not excessive.
We ate in the pub and I had an excellent rib eye, perfectly cooked for £18. The chips and onion rings were inedible. When I asked what sort of wine was available, the response was ‘red white or rose’ – okey dokey then!
The accommodation is cheap at £60 but a little smile wouldn’t go amiss! I actually wouldn’t stay again.
There is loads of parking but I’m not sure it is suitable for the less mobile as the chalets are reached via a gravelled area.
Longthorpe itself is a small village (ten mins walk from the pub) with a post office. It’s on OK base for local sightseeing I would think.
