Now owned by English Heritage, formerly the home of Thomas de Grey, whose family lived on the estate for over 600 years. A French-style mansion set in 90 acres of gardens and woodland.
On a day trip organised by a small “50plus” group, we visited this site for the first time, although it is relatively close to where we live and we had a very pleasant surprise. The gardens are exceptional, landscaped by various designers including, Lancelot “Capability Brown”. There are 26 Key attractions to visit including, Walled Garden, Play Area, Orangery, Chinese temple and bridge, etc. all set around the site. Too many for us to see in the short time that we were there, but we will certainly be visiting many times again.
Beautiful walks, Mobility carts circuit the grounds, Mobility scooters are bookable in advance and staff are very helpfull.
Of course there are the usual facilities like, Parking, Information, Shop, Cafe and last but not least toilets.
Wrest Park is a place that we will be visiting many times in the future.
