We booked a mid week break at short notice as we fancied a few days away. There are 4 parks which make up this complex. Golden sands is situated around 2 miles from Woolacombe, in season a bus pass costs £7 per week per person for travel between all 4 parks which form the resort and also down to the beach, if you decide to forego the £7 and walk be warned, the roads have no paths in the main so watch the children with your group. The park itself had just opened at half term February and a lot of the attractions on there were getting refurbished for the main season. There is plenty to do on site, rope walk, sea doos, sauna, swimming pool, bowling, arcades, pot painting, cinema etc. Reception is fast and efficient and the rooms are fine, we had a silver lodge, 2 bed self catering. The first one had obviously had smokers in it who decided to ignore the no smoking no animal rule and it stank of smoke and dog, we were moved to a clean one without issue, **this was not the fault of the park but reflected the person who had been there beforehand.** There are several bars, the main bar is where the entertainment happens at night. Thatchers cider is £3.45 per pint which is reasonable, as for the entertainment, the entertainment crew were brilliant and put a load of effort into everything they did, sure, you are not going to get Robbie Williams for the money you pay but you will get talented people putting on a good show. They were a credit to the park. The TV in the lodge wasnt the biggest (if you watch TV when away, we didnt) and the mattresses were a little hard but manageable, the rooms were really warm and snug with thier own central heating. I cannot understand the negative comments, from what we saw we would and will gladly return. It was spotless, litter patrols were regular, toilets were clean and everyone was most helpful. The downsides, well, a few of the cinema seats could do with upholstring and there were no worms knocking around for the fishing in the lake!
