We’ve noticed a significant price increase in hotels in Barcelona over the years, so we were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon the lovely Duquesa De Cardona hotel, perfectly situated in front of the port, very close to the Gothic and Bonn quarters.
The staff warmly welcomed us and whilst our room wasn’t ready as we had a very early flight they offered to not only store our bags but also call us when our room was ready. They then talked us through a few walking routes we might want to consider and recommended a few tapas stops along the way.
The room was very generous, we booked an interior room which actually had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The hotel has a boutique feel about it, with lovely bar on the ground floor although we hardly saw anyone in there.
It’s a little oasis in the city, with the added bonus of a great rooftop space with bar, restaurant and small pool but plenty of spots to sit. Upon check in we were presented with a voucher for a complimentary glass of cava to be taken in the rooftop bar.
The best thing about the hotel is the location, superbly situated close to Las Ramblas, and the more interesting spots of Born and Gothic Quarters.
We had a late departure and the hotel kindly offered us a late check out free of charge.
Every staff member we encountered were incredibly courteous and helpful and we will certainly return.
