Visited the salt mine which is 30 min drive outside Krakow. This very impressive place but does require a lot of walking with lots of steps, however there is a lift down to first floor so there is limited access for those who have difficulty walking. We did a 3 hour tour which started with walk down some 300 steps, but well worth it. The size of the chambers are enormous and the art work inside some of these is outstanding, the highlight being the church in one cavern, this alone is worth the visit, it is used for mass and weddings regularly still. Size is vast, room for 200 people plus with ceiling over 30 foot above with 5 magnificant chandeliers, statues all around and wall carvings that are all around the last supper, one being very good. The tour goes through several other impressive chambers with statues and carvings that show history of the mine and also displays of the various equipment used during the time periods. There are three levels to visit and told if wanted to see all the chambers would probably take the whole day. There is a full cafe and restaurant in one chamber and several souvenir shops.
Would recommend this trip.
