My partner booked this via Booking.com as a treat for both of us; he had needed to change the date as the original one was during a time of heavy snow and travelling was prohibitive. When we arrived, the young woman on the reception desk could not find our revised booking, said she would ring Booking.com who would ‘have to find us an alternative’, and settled us in the bar area with complimentary tea and coffee. She returned a few minutes later, having found the booking.
Our room was clean, comfortable and well-appointed with a double and a single bed. A minor source of concern was the preponderance of multi-sockets with cables stretching the length of the room since the wall sockets were obviously not in the most convenient places. The bathroom was fine, although the extractor fan, when it started up, sounded like an asthmatic rhinoceros! And the skirting board was dusty.
We had an evening meal, which was plentiful and tasty. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but I found the pillows lumpy and couldn’t settle to sleep. I finally got up in the early hours to swap them with those of the single bed and eventually got to sleep.
Breakfast was hearty and tasty; we each had a full English, preceded by cereal and toast.
My partner has limited mobility and our room was on the first floor. The stairs proved difficult, but not impossible, for him.
I would recommend this place, but bring your own pillows!
