I suggest any steam railway fan takes a trip along to Bishops Lydeard (Nr Taunton) for a day out to the seaside at Minehead. Not only can you savour the age of steam you can also see and indeed travel behind heritage diesel locomotives on the longest branch line in the country. If you time your visit to one of the many special Railway Gala Weekends you will also see the turntable in action at Minehead. The trip itself takes in the lovely Somerset countryside then the River Severn comes into view as you steam along the coast. If you are lucky you will be able to see the Welsh coast. Indeed a great day out even if you are not a Railway fan.
