My wife and myself stayed here in 2012 and enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back this year as well. It's overlooking Lake Windermere and the mountains in the distance. The staff were extremely polite, friendly and made us feel most welcome. Our double room which was overlooking the lake was clean, tidy and very comfortable. It had the usual tea and coffee making facilities, flat screen TV, telephone and an excellent bathroom with a shower. It also had the famous Sarah Nelson gingerbread brought to us daily which was a huge plus sign for me. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, cereals, croissants which you help yourself to. A waiter then comes and asks you if you would like a hot breakfast as well. You could have anything you like from traditional English to eggs benedict. Nothing was too much bother for them. We also had an evening meal off their extensive a la carte. Was it good? You bet it was and worth every penny. I'm not surprised it's rated no 1 on Trip Advisor. I will most definitely be returning for visit no.3.
