We booked our stay at the Waterfront Hotel on a friends recomendation and how glad we were that we did.
When booking we were offered a free upgrade from a standard room to a sea view, and what a view.
On arrival the recepionist was most helpful and showed us to our room. This had a kingsize bed whish was really comfortable and the room had plenty of space and a great window seat overlooking the small harbour. The only slight downside was the size of the en suite which was very small.
On the first night we ate in the hotel restaurant and what a mgificent meal it was the scallops main course, fresh from the boats, was memorable. The second night we went to a restaurant just along the front which was a good meal but much more expensive than the menu at the hotel and not quite as good a standard. the third night was spent at the hotel and again we had a magnicent seafood meal and all included in the dinner bead and breakfast price that we were offered for the nights that we ate in.
The bar/lounge area could be more cosy but the staff were wonderfully attentive and only too pleased to stop and speak and offer helpfull advice on where to go and things to do.
Our visit to Logan Botanical gardens was a highlight with helpful staff regarding questions and an art event being held for children and adults which we found most enjoyable and the sculpture my wife made from items from the grounds is now in place in our summerhouse.
Portpatrick is a great sleepy village built around the harbour and staying in October there were few people around and it felt as if we had the whole place to ourselves- just perfect.
