Reasons for trip

We have recently returned from a fabulous dog-friendly holiday in Wales. Our stay for 4 nights was a deluxe caravan at the Haven Presthaven Caravan Holiday Park. The caravan was beautiful, clean, tidy, very comfortable and very well-equipped. There was a small decking area outside the caravan with a safety gate at the end which was useful especially with having our dog with us. The caravan site itself covers a vast area and there are plenty of facilities on site, including an indoor heated pool. There are miles of sandy beaches close by. Food and drink wise Presthaven have the following takeaways/deliveries also available Cook’s fish and chips, Burger King, Papa Johns Pizza, Millies Cookies. There is a club/bar and also a mini market. The Holiday Park caters for all age groups.

We were fortunate enough to have good weather while we were on holiday so spent quite a lot of time on nearby beaches, especially Talacre Beach where we were able to exercise our dog Boris and we enjoyed every minute.

Talacre Beach is a beautiful beach with sand dunes and a lighthouse and approximately 9 minutes away from Presthaven Holiday park by car. It’s a good stretch of beach and we did visit by car a couple of times but were able to access the beach from the holiday park on foot. On Station Road which leads down to Talacre Beach you’ll find the Lighthouse Inn a lovely, friendly place to get refreshments. Many other cafes are close by.

When we weren’t on the beach we had a great time visiting other places Llandudno, Rhos on Sea, Rhuddlan Castle.

Llandudno – Our journey to Llandudno took approximately 40 minutes by car . We have visited Llandudno many times it has a very clean beach, a grand looking promenade and a long pier which has plenty of shops, cafes. The town is very busy and has plentiful shops to look around. The day we visited the town was very busy so we had to park quite a way out of town along the sea front. However, we did stretch our legs along the promenade and had a good walk on the pier. Take a tram or a cable car up to the summit of the Great Orme mountain which is something we have experienced on previous visits to Llandudno, you won’t be disappointed as the views are breathtaking.

Rhos-on-Sea – Another lovely, pleasant seaside town to visit. We had a short walk along the promenade and stopped for a cuppa at a local cafe. The beach itself is sandy in places, lovely to see the boats in the small harbour there too. Took approximately 30 minutes by car from the holiday park to Rhos-on-Sea, we managed to find car parking easily enough in the town.

Rhuddlan Castle – The Castle was quite close by so took only 15 minutes to get there in the car. There was free parking on site with a small entry fee to have a look around the ruins of the Castle. The Castle is dog friendly but we were advised not to take our dog above ground level unless we were able to carry him up the steps for safety reasons. Great place to visit, every picturesque. It doesn’t take long to look around but still worth a visit.

We had a fabulous stay in Wales and look forward to our next stay which will be next year when we will be taking Boris with us to Porthmadog, we can’t wait …
