Reasons for trip

Waddesdon Manor is a National Trust property. It was built in the late 1800's by Baron de Rothschild. It holds an outstanding collection of art treasures in its 45 rooms. The house itself is magnificent and is set in beautiful countryside. Its Victorian gardens gardens are well-maintained, there is an aviary garden with pretty ironwork bird cages and the topiary and flower-beds are very attractive. During this summer there is a fascinating light & music installation by Bruce Munro in the Coach House at the Stables. Also in the house there are incredible folded linen creations by Joan Sallas and a modern chandelier by Ingo Maurer which is both inventive and amusing. The Manor Shop has well-designed products, there is a Wine Shop selling comprehennsive ranges of Rothschild wines and The Stables Shop sells traditional toys & old-fashioned sweets. A good day was had by all!
