First time flying with Virgin from Gatwick to Bridgetown Barbados in September 2015. Used twilight check-in evening before, booked in at Upper Class counter although travelling Economy. Strangely not asked any security questions. Boarding was queue free, a gentle stroll down to the aircraft after selecting free magazine to read. Being a “Virgin Virgin” caused amusement with the cabin crew greeting boarding passengers. As a solo traveller, I chose an Economy aisle seat which contained a blanket, headset, bottle of water. The window seat occupant was spreading into my area so I strategically positioned myself in my seat!
Cabin crew very efficient and friendly. Bar service very good and quick, as drinks are free. Food menus handed out. I had Butter Chicken which was very tasty and a reasonably sized portion. Small three bean salad to start and a tiny Gu cheesecake. Cheese and crackers also supplied. Tea and coffee provided. Duty free sales followed, then a trolley offering free water and juice. About hour and half before landing was afternoon tea which consisted of a choice of two wraps. Unfortunately both contained tomato which I do not like, so returned it to cabin crew rejecting suggesting I pick the tomato out. Also given box containing millionaires shortbread and I think a flapjack-type bar.
Immigration forms were handed out and it’s amazing how popular you become when you own a pen! Cabin was sprayed with insect spray before landing with adequate warning given.
A very good experience and flight was on time.
