Villa Stafili is located down a winding road some 400 yards from the main road running to the heart of Acharavi. From another direction it is only about 100 yards from the coastal beach. The immediate vicinity has a number of other attractive villas and is reasonably flat with only slight climbs.
The villa and its annex sit in a substantial area of ground fully surrounded by high fencing lined with attractive shrubery. The main gate is made of heavy metal and is electronically-operated. There is also a smaller padlocked gate which is the exit towards the beach.
Villa Stafili is single storey with an annex 20 yards across the patio. The whole of the area within the grounds is almost completely flat which makes it family friendly. However, the tiled patio, to the swimming pool at the front and to the annex at the side, can be dangerous when wet. There is a standard-sized swimming pool as well as pool and table tennis facilities. A barbeque is located by the fence and there is a fair-sized lawn between the pool and back gate, There are grapevines growing on rods between the villa and annex and there are a number of other plants growing close to the main exit such as runner beans.
The villa itself has an attractive but small sitting-room/kitchen area with a comfortable leather settee, matching chairs and a substantial wooden table. There are sattelite TV and stereo facilities. However, when we arrived, there was no sattelite reception and the CD player controls had been damaged. On contacting our rep all this was blamed on previous guests. The TV was sorted within two days and the music facility took a bit longer. There are three well-appointed small bedrooms with two single beds in each. One of these rooms contains a washing-machine. Outwith the rooms there are three individual small bathrooms with showers which are of good quality.
The annex is a self-contained unit. It has a standard-sized bedroom with two single beds with a wardrobe and bedside units. There is a kitchen area complete with breakfast-bar and a comfortable sofa. The small toilet/shower room is also perfectly adequate.
In summary, Villa Stafili is very comfortable and has every facility for a family. It has privacy, little noise pollution and is of good quality. The negatives would be the risk of wet tiles and the TV / stereo problems we encountered as mentioned above. Another slight problem was that the taxi firms, whose phone numbers were supplied by Villaplus, seemed to be very reluctant to actually come to pick us up from the villa itself. They were always citing it was too far for them to come – having reported this to our rep it appears the firms were not all locally based in Acharavi. Seemed a very basic oversight on the part of the travel company – the rep promised to rectify this for future guests. However, these negatives would not be sufficient to stop me fully proposing Villa Stafili as a good-standard holiday accomodation.
